Posts Tagged ‘update’

I just wanted to let everyone know I updated the .223/5.56 section of my Ammo Availability page.  Its been over 3 months since my last update and I apologize for that.  I needed to take a break from the blog but I’m back now and I’ll try to post again on a semi-regular basis.

The good news is, it looks like ammo is a lot more available again.  Every single supplier had more options to choose from than 3 months ago.  The bad news is, everything appears to have settled in at a price that’s far higher than I had hoped it would be.  I hoped that once ammo was becoming available again, prices would come back down a ways and I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I plan to update the rest of the rifle calibers this evening after work, so look for that this later.  Hopefully the pistol ammo can get updated in the next day or two as well.  As always, let me know if there is another caliber that you would like me to add to the list.

Hello once again!  As promised I’ve updated the rifle calibers (.223/5.56, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62×39, 7.62×54, and 22lr) over on my Ammo Availability page to show a current list of what’s available around the web.  I was surprised to see that almost every website had an increase in stock levels.  The only caliber that has yet to see much of an increase is 22lr.

On a related note I’m moving into the apartment tomorrow; If all goes well with unpacking and furniture moving I should have the pistol calibers updated as well.  Of course that is dependent on Comcast showing up to hook up my TV and internet service . . .

To celebrate, lets all sit back and watch some of Russia’s most historic people battle it out in another Epic Rap Battle of History!

I just wanted to let everyone know that my Ammo Availability page is coming along pretty nicely.  It now contains links for .223/5.56, 7.62×39, .50 AE, .45 ACP, and 9mm Luger.  I’m going to work on the others throughout this evening so before the day is up I’ll have a few more.  Once the basic formatting and layout is complete for each caliber, I’ll start more actively updating the “in stock” options.

Overall I’m happy with how this is going to be set up and I think it will save me a considerable amount of time.  If you have any comments or suggestions regarding the formatting of the new page, please let me know.  I would also appreciate it if anyone can find errors in the links or anchors.  I do my best to check everything before I update the page but I’m bound to miss something.

**  UPDATE – 8:08pm  **
I’ve added the links for 7mm Rem Mag ammo.

This post is being written very late tonight.  I just got home from spending the evening with my fiance.  We went out to eat at our favorite restaurant, Chilis, where we were served by our favorite waiter, Matt (if you’re reading this Matt, thanks for the wonderful service as always).  We then went to see the new Wizard of Oz movie and finished the evening with some late night grocery shopping.

I had hoped (and I’m sure some of you had as well) that I would be able to put out my ammo updates this weekend.  Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.  I’m staying at my dad’s this weekend and he doesn’t have internet.  All the posts from Friday evening through Monday are coming to you via my cell phone.  And since Sprint frowns on lots of data usage while roaming, there’s not much I can do as far as browsing the web.

But I am working on some things in the down time.  This evening’s (or yesterday’s I guess, since its 1am) survival tip will be combined with tomorrow’s.  In addition, I purchased a new camcorder on Friday.  I’m busy working on some videos and refreshing my editing skills to hopefully bring you some new content in the form of more shooting vids and product reviews.

I hope you can forgive the slow weekend as I prepare for better things to come.  I will do my best to get the ammo updates out on Monday and Teusday, but I can’t promise anything.  In the mean time you can always check out GunBot (just google it, I can’t link with my phone) for ammunition updates.

Thanks as always and I hope you have a great weekend.

The majority of my viewers are still arriving here looking for ammo updates and information.  And according to the answers that I’ve received on my poll, ammo updates are still something my readers and subscribers want.  In order to provide more updates more often, I’m going to divide my updates into pistol ammo and rifle ammo.  Having a smaller variety of calibers will allow me to do them quicker and that means less work for me.

Hopefully this way I can give more specific information on each of the options as well.   The pistol updates will include .50AE, .45ACP, and 9mm.  The rifle updates will include .223, 5.56, 7.62×39, 7.62x54R, and 22lr.

So here’s the first update with the new format.  The rifle ammo update should be along tomorrow if life goes as planned.  Here’s what was available as of 4:00pm on March 12th, 2013.

.50AE is still really hard to find.  If anyone knows of a source that I haven’t been looking through, let me know so I can include it.  Also, with these updates being half what they used to be, I could include another caliber to this one.  Vote in the poll below or leave a comment to let me know what you think I should include.

I was going to wait to do this update until later this evening but I had some time now so I thought I would go ahead with it.  Keep in mind that since I’m doing a much larger list of ammo now, it requires I spend more time getting links and accurate information.  As a result, there is about a 30 minute lag from my first few links to the last.  In that time its always possible that the ammo I list as available could sell out.

This week it doesn’t look like 22lr is any healthier than in previous updates, but .223 and 5.56 are starting to show an improvement.  7.62x54R still seems pretty available, as does both calibers of handgun ammo.  7.62x39mm doesn’t seem to be doing that strong this time however.

Anyway, here is what was available around 3:30pm on February 13th, 2013.

First, I want to thank the following blogs/websites for including my ammo updates in their own posts.  It’s greatly increased the amount of traffic coming to my blog and I really appreciate it.  Give these places a look because they definitely have some interesting material of their own:

Gunmart Blog and Common Sense Tactical and Practical

Now, down to business.  It looks like availability is pretty good for all categories aside from 22lr.  22’s have been really hard to come by in the past few weeks.    Also, many websites separate .223 and 5.56, so to provide more accurate links, I’ve done the same.  Below is what was available as of 6:13pm on February 6th, 2013.

Thanks for checking out the updates.  Make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss my future updates.  I try to do these every few days and I have no intention of stopping any time soon.  Why look all over the web when I’ve already done the searching for you?  All it takes is one click over on the side of the page and you can have my updates sent straight to your email.

And as always, if you would like a different caliber to be included, just leave me a comment.  I don’t mind adding another category or two.  Only takes a few extra minutes each time.

Good luck and happy hunting!
