Here’s a quick link to pass around to everyone you know. It came to me from the Gunmart Blog. Its a short little presentation that you navigate through on your own, kinda like a PowerPoint It shows how foolish it is to consider universal background checks a way to reduce gun violence.
Personally, I’m in the middle on this issue. I support background checks. But only because I know it keeps some criminals from getting guns. I know that most criminals find their guns elsewhere, but it certainly has to stop a few.
That said, I think the current background check standards are a little too strict. Some people can lose their right to own and/or purchase firearms simply because of misdemeanor charges. Meanwhile the guys who are out there performing drive-by shootings on a weekly basis can get one whenever they want. Its just not right.
What are your thoughts on background checks? Do you support them or are you against them? Could they be changed to improve their usefulness/effectiveness? Let me know what you think in the comments.
