On Saturday, February 2nd, Chris Kyle was murdered while out with friends at a shooting range.  He leaves behind a wife and two children.

Chris Kyle was one of my favorite guests to ever appear on Conan (where I first saw him).  My fiance and I were really impressed with what we saw on tv and everything we learned after.  He was very down to earth and seemed like an every day guy;  he was someone who could live next door.  If I had met him for the first time on the street, I never would’ve guessed he was one of the most lethal snipers in U.S. history.

Kyle was a Navy SEAL and served four tours in Iraq.  He had 160 confirmed kills during his career.  According to his Wikipedia page, “he was shot twice, and involved in six IED attacks”.  When he returned home he became very involved in helping disabled veterans and those suffering with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

For someone who killed over 160 people during four tours in his military career  he seemed to handle it all really well.  He even wrote a book about his life and time with the military called American Sniper.  If you haven’t read his book yet, you definitely should.  I’ve read a good bit of it already.  Its been hard to find time to sit down and read lately but I am going to try really hard to finish it now.

Its always sad when an innocent person is gunned down for no reason.  Its especially sad when the victim was trying to make a positive change in the world by helping so many people.

Chris Kyle was an american hero by every definition of the phrase.  My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
