Walmart Halts Ammo Orders

According to another blog, Walmart is no longer ordering in new ammunition until after Obama and Congress make some sort of a decision regarding gun control.  Kinda hard to believe Walmart would stop ordering in stuff that is selling out so fast.

But I can see their point as well.  Why place another $15,000 ammunition order if you’re not going to be able to sell it next month.  Then you’re stuck with a whole lot of inventory that does nothing but collect dust.

But from a consumer’s point of view, this is horrible.  Walmart’s are located just about everywhere and as far as I know all, or at least most, sell ammunition.  So no matter where you go you can depend on there being ammunition available.  Or at least you could before all this weapon ban talk resurfaced.

Lots of people are calling for gun owners to boycott Walmart, but I don’t think that would help.  Walmart is already so large that they wont notice significant losses even if absolutely nobody shops at 3 or 4 stores.  They’re just too big.

There’s nothing we can really do except tell the manager that you’re not going to be purchasing your ammo there in the future if they refuse to re-order their stock.  If enough people bring it up, hopefully the local managers would take it up the chain to corporate.  Hopefully that would prompt them to change their mind.

But I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.  I’d start looking for local companies that would be more than happy to have your business.  Shopping local is the best way to support our economy anyway.

****  UPDATE  ****

Walmart has responded to this and apparently they have no intention of halting ammo sales.  See my post HERE about it.
