Today’s tip is fairly basic. Not extremely specific either but its tip number two in this book of 111, so here you go!
2) Stock An Office Bug-Out-Bag
“Disaster can strike any time, including when you’re at work”. According to the book, you don’t need to keep a whole lot in your office bag. It just needs some basic things that will help enable you to get to your home or another safe location. All of this should be packed in a single “grab-and-go tote so you can evacuate efficiently”. Then just stash it somewhere safe (and accessible) at work so you’re good to go if you need it. Here’s what they suggest you pack:
- A set of rugged clothes (Something more useful than a suit and tie)
- Athletic shoes and socks
- A few food options and bottles of water
I personally feel this tip is kinda lacking. Granted, any bag you’re going to stash at work can’t be too large, I just feel you should include a few other things as well. I personally don’t leave the house without a flashlight and a knife. You never know when you’ll be trapped in the dark, and how many people keep a flashlight in their desk? A knife can serve not only as a tool but a defensive weapon also. What about a lighter or matches? Most smokers already have one of these, but not everyone does. Never know when you might need to start a fire. These items are very small (most of the time) and should easily fit into any bag that you can stuff an entire set of clothes in.
What do you think? What else would you add? If you needed a bag to get you home during a disaster, what would you pack inside?

When it comes to a bug out bag think food, water, warmth if the climate is cool, first aid and self defense. If you cover those basics you are way ahead of most others in an office environment.
Good point. I guess a small first aid should be included in that list then right? I work in an area with large first aid boxes on a wall in every room so I guess that one just slipped my mind.
My wife gets a kick out of telling me between flashlights and first aid kits that I have stored in various places; there are none left for anyone else lol
I see a trend in your lifestyle. Always make sure to cover everything. And also to make sure you never use live ammunition . . .
And don’t forget keep the wife happy. If she’s happy; life becomes a piece of cake
